NYST

NYST (Nystatin) is a tetraene macrolide of polyene antifungal antibiotics. lt is used to prevent or treat superficial candidiasis of the mouth, oesophagus or intestinal tract, for vaginal candidiasis and cutaneous infection. Like othei polyenes, NYST (Nystatin) binds with a sterol moiety, primarily ergosterol, present in the membrane of sensitive fungi and form pores or channels. As a result, permeability of the membrane is increased and a variety of small molecules come out from the cell. Ultimately cell death occurs.
